Thaxted Vets have  been caring for pets in the Thaxted and Saffron Walden area since 2007.

​Neutering

Besides a variety of health benefits that help your pet live a longer, happier life, there are also behavioural benefits to spaying and neutering your pets. It also helps decrease the number of homeless pets and strays that get put to sleep every year.

​Ultrasound

We offer state-of-the-art medical technology to ensure the best possible care for your pet. One of the diagnostic tools we use is ultrasound, which creates images of the inner workings of the body.

Ultrasound uses sound waves to offer a non-invasive, painless, and radiation-free method of imaging your pet’s internal organs. By using ultrasound, we have a powerful tool at our disposal to detect, diagnose and prevent illness in your pet. It is also useful in diagnosing pregnancy.

​X-rays

Radiology is used routinely to look inside the body, either for bony problems or other internal organ trouble. It is an important way of finding out about things like arthritis in joints. We have a modern digital system allowing us to create rapid images of all types of animal.

Vaccinations

At Thaxted Vets, we believe that one of the most important aspects of caring for your pet’s health is vaccinating them against potential diseases.

There are a variety of diseases that affect our pets and animals. This makes proper vaccination vital in protecting them from the many types of illnesses they are susceptible to. It’s important to consult with us about the unique risks of living in our region. We will be happy to discuss the benefits of protecting your pet with vaccinations, as well as providing you with information on the required vaccinations for your pet.

Surgery

Most surgery is done here with up to date anaesthetic techniques. More specialised procedures such as some orthopaedic and eye surgery may be referred to a local specialist centre such as Cambridge University.

Laboratory

We are able to do most routine laboratory work on the premises with up to date automatic blood analysers. More specialised examinations are submitted to a local specialist laboratory for expert analysis.

Import and Export

We are able to deal with all aspects of the import and export of pets not only within Europe but also to the Americas, Australasia etc.

Out of hours
We try to do as much out of hours attendance ourselves but when this is not possible, a nearby dedicated out of hours service handles cases on our behalf. At all times, call the main surgery on 01799 521060 first.
